This iconic design unites Maarten Olden’s knowledge and passion for furniture and industrial design with the personal mission of Caspar Lampe to create an unique stepladder, beautiful enough to fit in the interior of today and yet also meeting the highest standards of the ladder industry.

The outcome of this collaboration is the USIT, a beautiful exclusive design to use as a safe stepladder or as a comfortable chair!

Maarten Olden (the Netherlands, 1972) graduated as an interior designer at the Royal Academy of Fine arts in the Hague (KABK) and as an industrial designer at the prestigious Design Academy in Eindhoven.

Caspar Lampe (the Netherlands, 1958) has been active in the ladder industry for almost 40 years, changing the industry significantly with his award winning innovations.

We all recognize the situation: we use the first available chair to reach a higher level. Quick and easy. Unfortunately this causes thousands of accidents to happen on a yearly basis. By recognizing this problem, we started a detailed research to develop a new product to meet the required demands: safe to climb with the comfort to sit and beautiful enough to keep stand-by in any interior!

USIT originated in the desire to create a stepladder that fits into a contemporary interior. Today’s stepladders often look too utilitarian, and they are quickly returned to storage after being used. Although it is collapsible, the USIT doesn’t have to be stowed away. The 2 step version of USIT can be used as a seat, the 3 step version as a high stool.
